Is Biggest Loser going to live up to its name?
Hi Everyone,
Is anyone watching Biggest Loser this season? I have a feeling those who are watching are DVR’ing it. Going up against American Idol is tough for any show but since Biggest Loser was already suffering will it really become “the biggest loser” in the ratings at least? Last week, the producers’ attempted to fuel this week’s show by creating a cliffhanger. I know I’ve been wondering all week if Mike lost over 10 pounds. Alright, I’m being sarcastic. Does it matter that much? If Mike loses the weight, no one goes home LAST week. But it’s not last week, it’s THIS week, so doesn’t someone get eliminated anyway?
The blurb on the Biggest Loser website says there is a surprising confrontation between one of the players and their trainer. Any guesses on who this could be? I suppose since they use the word surprising it’s not going to be one of the regular whiners. Comment with your guess and the winner(s) will get a special shout out. Stay tuned…Bloggergal1
Biggest Loser Cliffhanger
Hello Everyone,
Sorry my update is so late. I was carrying my laptop this morning, tripped and
dropped it. It’s out of commission
Dividing the teams into Black and Blue has started the players making alliances.
Of course those players who were together from the beginning are sticking close
together, for instance Ron, Kristen and Cathy. This worries some of the others.
Chef Rocco is back this week. He shows the contestants how fattening fast food is.
To emphasize how much fat he’s talking about he shows the actual fat (Crisco?)
amounts. I have to admit its frightening.
Next the contestants have a cooking challenge. Both teams have to make healthy
versions of typical fast foods: a healthy burger, a healthy burrito/Mexican entree
and a healthy pizza. They will be judged on taste and calorie content. They only
have 30 minutes to complete this. The winning team wins a dinner cooked by Chef
Rocco. Also, someone on the winning team will be chosen at random to receive an
extra vote in this week’s elimination. Chef Rocco is the judge and all the
contestants were really nervous to have him judge. The Blue Team’s pizza was
better than the Black Team’s. The burrito challenge is won by the Black Team. The
burger challenge also goes to the Black Team. The Black Team wins the challenge
and Laura wins the extra vote. Chef Rocco cooks and teaches the Black Team how to
make a great meal.
Bob takes his team off campus to a 24 Hour Fitness to try out a new exercise class
based on shadow boxing. Guest star Sugar Ray Leonard surprises the team. He tells
them how important the mind is when it comes to training and health.
Dr. H. stops by to see some of the contestants while they are working in the gym.
He congratulates Mike and Tara. Mike has lost 134 pounds of fat in three months!
Tara has had a 29 percent weight loss. That’s never been done on the Biggest
Loser. He talks to Mandi and tells her that she is off the charts on her fitness
test. Ron is finally lowering his blood sugar levels and getting healthier.
The next challenge involves the Los Angeles food bank. The teams have to take the
donated food, assemble it into a kit and then take those kits across the warehouse
and load them on to the trucks. Each team has to make 100 kits and load those kits
plus an extra 50 kits. The winning team gets a year supply of groceries, they will
be featured in a Cheerio advertising campaign and also receive letters from home.
The Black Team sits Laura out to even out the teams. The Black Team wins. It’s
all Black Team this show! Highlighting volunteerism was a great addition to this
challenge. The contestants have loaded enough food to feed over 1,000 people for one day.
The Blue Team takes their loss hard and they feel like the Black Team is showing
off with their wins. The letters from home section of the show was typical–lots
of crying and happiness. Then, Mike does an amazing thing. He gives Aubrey the year’s
supply of groceries because she has five kids. It made me feel so good to see a
college-age boy do something so selfless. I hope my sons are growing up the same
way.
Fast forward through the last chance workouts. Sorry but time is getting away from
me today.
Allison announces there is a chance for everyone to get immunity. If they all lose
a combined total of over 77 pounds no one goes home. That’s seven pounds per
contestant. But if they don’t, one person from each team will be going home. Plus
for every pound each contestant loses, Biggest Loser will donate 100 pounds of food
to Feed America.
First up tonight is Helen with a loss of 5 pounds. Mandi lost 8 pounds. Sione
lost 3 pounds. Aubrey lost 8 pounds. Laura lost 7 pounds. Ron lost 6 pounds.
Tara lost 11 pounds. She has amazing weight loss numbers every week. Kristen lost
9 pounds. With three people left to weigh in they must lose 30 pounds between
them. Next up is Filipe. He lost 8 pounds. Cathy lost 3 pounds. Mike has to
lose 10 pounds or more for everyone to have immunity. Lots of stress on such a
young guy. He walks up to the scale and my DVR stops. What? How can that be?
What happened at the end? So I did what any Google-loving gal would do–I searched
for my answer. Evidently, what happened is that NBC didn’t say. They left the
show with a cliffhanger and we have to wait until NEXT week to find out. Since my
DVR stopped I was kind of relieved I didn’t miss the end but what’s up with that?
Isn’t it bad enough that we sit and watch through two looonnnngggg hours every week
without them making us wait a week?
So I guess that’s it for today…stay tuned (no choice huh?) Bloggergal1
Are You The Next Biggest Loser?
Hi Everyone,
Do you want to be the next Biggest Loser? Some of the casting calls are over but check out the release below for information on ways to tryout. What’s MORE interesting about this NBC release is that not only are the producers looking for contestants but also for TRAINERS. Are Jillian and Bob heading for the door? It’s a no brainer that NBC needs to do something to inject new interest in The Biggest Loser. Doing the same things, season after season is just not going to keep viewers tuning in. I guess we all have to stay tuned…Bloggergal1

Are Biggest Loser’s producers just really big liars?
Hi there!
Just a quick note regarding last night’s Biggest Loser and the eliminated Dane. I read on the Internet, that the section of the show where they highlighted his running a marathon along with his wife was falsified. According to some of the runners in the marathon, Dane and his wife were picked up halfway through the marathon by a van and brought to the finish line. According to his wife’s blog, it was necessary to do that due to time restraints of the TV crew. What wasn’t necessary was NBC making a big deal about how Dane FINISHED the marathon. They even said that he finished the marathon in three hours and 53 minutes. His wife admits that they are not in the marathon records because they did not finish the marathon. Tsk, tsk NBC.

Who was eliminated from Biggest Loser tonight?
Hi Everyone,
The second part of this week’s Biggest Loser starts with a challenge. Each team will test their knowledge on diet and health. The winning team members each win a vacation package and the team wins a 3 pound advantage at the weigh-in. The questions:
True or False: Switching from regular to diet cola will help you live longer. False, diet soda is filled with chemicals and is very bad for your body. Both teams get this one correct.
Which change in your diet will help you live longer…cutting fat or cutting calories? Cutting calories leads to a longer life. Actually, “good” fat is necessary in everyone’s diet. The Black Team gets this one correct.
Which exercise helps you live longer…push-ups or squats? Squats are better because working on your lower body strength helps later on when you are older. Lower body strength helps prevent falls which can lead to complications. Once again the Black Team is correct and they win the challenge.
Last chance workouts are a bit stressful for the contestants that have had to switch trainers. Everyone seems to be adjusting. Of course, both trainers push everyone to their limits.
This is the first weigh-in where team versus team. Remember the Black Team has a 3 pound advantage. The player on the losing team who has the highest percentage of weight loss will have immunity at the elimination.
Dane is the first contestant of the Blue Team to be weighed. He lost 13 pounds. He has lost 100 pounds on Biggest Loser so far! Aubrey lost 5 pounds. She was hoping for a bigger loss. Mandy lost 7 pounds. She is starting to look really good. Ron lost 5 pounds. His current weight is 349 pounds. He has a really hard time losing the weight because he can’t work out as hard as the others. Kristin lost 10 pounds. She’s thrilled. Cathy lost 14 pounds! Wow, that’s a huge weight loss for a woman in one week. The total weight loss of the Blue Team is 54 pounds with a total percentage of weight loss of 3.26%.
The Black Team has to lose more than 50 pounds as a team, but actually only 47 because of the 3 pound advantage to avoid the elimination room. Helen is first up and she lost 7 pounds. This puts her below 200 pounds at 198 pounds. Laura lost 8 pounds. Tara lost 11 pounds this week. Wow, another huge weight loss for one of the women. She’s lost 83 pounds so far this season. Mike lost 10 pounds. He is now under 300 pounds–good for him! I tear up when I see how proud his father is. Filipe lost 8 pounds. This brings the Black Team to a loss of 47 pounds. Last up is Sione. He needs to lose more than 3 pounds to keep the Black Team from eliminations. He lost 10 pounds! This keeps the Black Team safe even without the 3 pound advantage.
The Blue Team will have to eliminate one of its players. Kathy had the highest percentage of weight loss so she has immunity. Ron pushes to have Dane sent home. He uses the logic that he’s already lost 100 pounds and he’ll continue to lose at home. Why would the team send home the second biggest weight loser? Ron really wants to stay because he wants to support his son Mike. However his consistent low weight loss amounts along with his poor contributions to challenges should put a big bulls eye on his chest. Aubrey, who only lost 5 pounds this week isn’t even considered for elimination.
First to reveal is Aubrey. She votes to eliminate Kristin. I think she knows no one else will vote to eliminate Kristin and this keeps her out of the fray. However, how will Kristin and her mom Kathy react to this later on in the season? I know I’d be after Aubrey. Dane votes to eliminate Ron. Mandy votes to eliminate Ron, using the logic that he continually loses the least amount of weight. Ron votes to eliminate Dane. Kathy votes to eliminate Dane. Kristin votes to eliminate Dane. Dane is eliminated. I think this was a BIG mistake by the Blue Team. Dane would have helped them in challenges, Ron can’t do that. Dane consistently loses big weight amounts, Ron doesn’t. I suppose eliminating him eliminates a threat but that won’t help them if they continually end up in the elimination room!
That’s it for tonight. See you next week…Bloggergal1
Biggest Loser Couples Become Biggest Loser Teams
Hi Everyone! Did you catch President Obama speaking to the Congress tonight? It didn’t affect our Biggest Loser show on the West Coast. Not sure if it affected you in the East.
Allison tells everyone that they will be playing the rest of the season as TWO teams–Black, Jillian’s team and Blue, Bob’s team. The challenge will decide where everyone ends up. First challenge of the night is a football drill. Each of the couples must pick who will compete. Each contestant must lay down flat in the mud, then lift themselves to a standing position, hit a button hanging from a string and then do it all over again. The first one to get to 100 wins. The competition quickly becomes a contest between the Blue Team’s Sione against the Green Team’s Tara. They are flip-flopping back and forth to the very last touch and Tara touches first. What this means is that the two members of the Green Team get to remain together on Jillian’s team. The team that finishes last would be separated one on Bob’s team and one on Jillian’s. Finishing in last place is Helen and because she is alone on the ranch, she is automatically switched to Jillian’s team. The rest of the contestants will have to choose which trainer by the toss of a coin.
The Blue Team with Bob as the trainer includes Ron, Mandi, Aubrey, Cathy, Kristen and Dane. The Black Team with Jillian as the trainer includes Mike, Sione, Filipe, Helen, Tara and Laura. Everyone needs to come to terms with the new teams and get to work. I don’t know why they are all so surprised by the change. They always do something like this halfway through Biggest Loser to shake things up. Bob was crying like a baby. They did a montage of memories with Bob and his team members. It was a bit “soap opera-ish”.
The first challenge of the two teams is the longest challenge in Biggest Loser history. Each team has one bike. For the next 24 hours, each team must continue to pedal on their bike. The team that puts the most miles on their bike wins. The winning team will get a three pound advantage at this week’s weigh in as well as each teammate getting their very own bike. The Black Team had a strategy of each member biking for 30 minutes and then resting for 2 1/2 hours. Each member of the Blue Team pedaled until they couldn’t pedal anymore. The Black Team seems to have a better strategy to me. When there is about 9 hours remaining, Mandi and the Blue Team ask everyone to stop riding. She says that everyone needs to rest so that they are ready for their last chance workout. Sione from the Black Team tells her he won’t quit. Good for him. Aubrey agrees with Sione and so they keep going and going and going. Blue team rode 264 miles and the Black Team rode 301.9 miles. The Black Team has a 3 pound advantage at the weigh-in. Tara from the Black Team rode the farthest…over 50 miles.
This week’s Biggest Loser is in two parts. Tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. is the conclusion. See you then!
Good Night! Bloggergal1
So What F Word Did Tara Say?
Hi Everyone,
In the interest of keeping you up-to-date on the current news regarding the Biggest Loser show, I’m writing this. It seems that Tara said something resembling the “F” word on the show this week. I evidently didn’t hear it because I didn’t include it in the recap. The story goes that when she was looking at the board with all the keys she said “I don’t F****** know.” The issue isn’t about her, it’s about NBC not bleeping it. I didn’t keep the show on tape, but a number of watchers say that she said “freakin” or some other word close to THE word but not actually the word. One commenter said she said “fudge” and that was a lot worse because of the implications to food and weight. I got a kick out of that one! So anyway, there you go. The whole intriguing story. I wouldn’t be surprised if NBC leaked the story to try to ignite interest in this season’s Biggest Loser. Have a great day! Bloggergal1
Biggest Loser’s Lose the Gym
Hi Everyone,
It’s Wednesday morning and I’m watching my DVR’d Biggest Loser show. I watched American Idol last night. Check out our American Idol blog.
The show starts with Allison telling the teams that they have a challenge. The two teams who win the challenge will have access to the gym but the other teams will have to work out all week outside. Each team has to run up a huge hill, pick a key from a board, bring it back down, try it in a lock. If it opens, you are one of the teams that get to use the gym. If not…try again and again and again.
Ron with his bad knees slowly makes his way up and down the hill (mountain?). All the other teams were willing to slow down to help him. It was very uplifting to watch. The contestants on this year’s show are so opposite those from last season, aren’t they?
Tara pushes to the point where she’s vomiting everywhere. Eww! Shannon on her sixth trip opens the lock giving her and her mom access to the gym for the week. Only one more key left! Mike gets it on his seventh trip. I’m so happy for him and his dad–they are a very special team.
When Jillian meets up with her team, she’s shocked that Blaine was eliminated. Bob told his team to vote Dane off. When he finds out that they did the opposite, he’s not at all happy.
Bob starts his workout outside. He uses benches as steps. Jillian clears out the living room and starts exercises in there. Bob has them press outside furniture as if they were weights. Jillian is doing exercise after exercise. Bob does tug-of-war exercises. Jillian and Tara face off. Tara is scared that she’s going to go home this week.
Next challenge involves rowing machines. If you row fast enough, your light turns green. If you fall behind and the light turns red, you are out. If one of the team is out–both are out. The team who wins gets immunity. The light goes from green to yellow when you are in trouble. Ron can’t do it and the brown team is the first to be eliminated. Aubrey’s light turns red and the yellow team is eliminated. The pink team is eliminated next followed by the purple team. Remaining are the blue team, the green team and the lone member of the black team. Blue team is eliminated. Its Laura and Tara against Dane. Laura goes into the red and this gives Dane immunity. See how quick the vote can turn against you? Laura can’t stop crying. She feels she let Tara down.
Bob takes his team to the beach for his last chance workout. Running on the sand, crab walking, and carrying huge logs are part of the torture. Jillian does whatever she can think of including boxing, running, old-fashioned leg lifts and hopping. Yes, I said hopping.
Weigh in time! First up is Dane with immunity. He lost 4 pounds this week. Looks like immunity is going to come in handy. Purple team is next up Cathy only loses 1 pound but her daughter Kristin lost 12 pounds. The blue team lost 16 pounds this week. Next up is the green team. This is a biggie because Tara didn’t have a good week. But they pull it off with a weight loss of 15 pounds! The yellow team lost 12 pounds. This keeps them safe. The pink team lost 9 pounds putting them in danger of being eliminated. The brown team must lose more than 13 pounds to remain safe. They lose a total of 17 pounds. Mike lost 10 and Ron lost 7. Thank goodness! They are such an inspiration! This means one of the pink team will be eliminated this week.
Helen and Shannon spoke to the group. Helen asks that Shannon go home and she stay. The group doesn’t agree. They think Shannon should stay. Shannon is sacrificing herself for her mom Helen. The green group honors the decision of the pink team and votes Shannon off. The blue team does the same. The brown team votes to send Shannon home. The purple team votes Shannon off and this eliminates her.
See you next week! Bloggergal1
PS Take a moment to answer our new poll…who do you think will win this season’s Biggest Loser?
Black team loses Blaine this week on Biggest Loser
Tonight’s show began with what Allison calls a “pop challenge”. Each contestant has to stand on a block on one foot. The last person standing wins. The prize is a visit with someone they love for 24 hours on the ranch. Ron is first off his block. Mike, his son, is second. Kristen is third off the block. Dave is next. Tara, after fooling around a bit posing on her block lands in the pool. Kathy drops next. Shannon falls off and knocks her mom Shannon off. Laura is next to step off. Sione is out. Eight minutes have gone by…four remaining….Filipe, Blaine, Aubrey and Mandi. Mandi asks Filipe to let her win and he steps off. Blaine gives up for Mandi and Aubrey steps off too. Mandi gets to see her husband.
Bob talks to the brown team about why they aren’t losing enough weight. He tells them that they need to eat MORE to lose weight. Bob knows that he has to focus on Mike because his dad Ron has a bad knee. The brown team has been below the yellow line two weeks in a row.
Jillian meets with her team and she isn’t thrilled to hear Mandi will spend 24 hours with her husband. She’s worried that he will undermine Mandi’s success. Mandi swears she won’t let him.
Bob changes it up a bit and does yoga with his team. I loved this part since I started this with my Nintendo Wii. He explains how yoga is a physical as well as a mental activity.
Jillian zeroes in on Laura. Jillian thinks Laura is saying all the right things but has no intensity behind it.
Next, Bob takes his team on a hike to Subway. They get there and Bob tells them grab a snack because we’re going to hike another 2 miles to a second Subway! He shows the contestants how to choose what to eat correctly. It was a five mile walk to and a five mile walk back from Subway.
The next challenge is a team effort. Each team has to hold a bar in the air. If the bar goes below a certain level, they are eliminated. The winners get immunity at the weigh-in. After 40 minutes, no team has been eliminated. After an hour, Allison tells the contestants that they have to pick one arm and not switch. Filipe and Sione, the blue team, lose focus for a second and are eliminated. After almost two hours, the brown team is eliminated. Next eliminated is the black team. After two hours, Allison tells the contestants they must now keep both hands on the bar. The pink team is eliminated. After three hours, the yellow team is eliminated. Remaining are the green team and the purple team. At midnight, after four hours, in only 38 degrees, both teams remain standing. I want the purple team to win because the green team has been dominating in competitions. The green team tries to make a deal by telling the purple team that if they let go they won’t vote against them if they fall below the yellow line. The purple team knows the green team is getting desperate. After 4 hours and 40 minutes the green team is eliminated.
Mandi is reunited with her husband. She is very surprised when there is a knock on the door and in walk her two sons. Biggest Loser tears…again!
More tears flow during Bob’s last chance workout. It was very moving to see how hard Mike is working to save the brown team and his dad Ron. Jillian knows that every one of her team has to have good numbers because her team won’t have the votes at the elimination. Aubrey loses it because she misses her family so much. It’s taking her focus off her goals. Mandi begs to spend her last hour with her family. Jillian is really upset because she knows Mandi hasn’t worked out and tomorrow is the weigh-in.
Weigh-in time! Only one team will fall below the yellow line this week and then one of the team will be voted off. The purple team, with immunity, lost a total of two pounds! Kristen gained two pounds. Lucky she has immunity, huh? The pink team lost a total of ten pounds. The green team lost 14 pounds. Tara lost 11 pounds this week–wow. The blue team lost 21 pounds. The black team lost 9 pounds. The yellow team lost 7 pounds. Mandi lost 6 while Aubrey only lost 1 pound. This still puts the black team in danger because the loss is done by percentage and not by pounds. Last up is the brown team, to avoid falling below the yellow line they have to have lost more than 9 pounds. They lose 18 pounds! Mike lost 13 and his dad Ron lost 5 pounds. This puts the black team below the yellow line and one of them will be voted off the ranch.
Blaine asks to be the one sent home. He wants Dane to remain on the ranch. Everyone is so sad to know that one of them has to leave. The pink team votes to send Dane home. The brown team votes to send Blaine home. Respecting Blaine’s wishes, the green team votes to send him home. The blue team votes to send Blaine home. The purple team voted for Blaine and he is sent home.
See you next week! Bloggergal1
Will Peace Prevail on Biggest Loser Couples?
Hi Everyone,
Welcome to a new week. Biggest Loser Couples is starting out pretty slow. The whole “send the partner home” thing was pretty uneventful wasn’t it? The brouhaha over Carla and and Joelle ended last week with their elimination. It would have been good for Joelle to find out why she doesn’t really want to lose weight. Daniel and David going home so early in the game was another big disappointment. They really needed to be on that ranch and I was hoping they would inspire other young people.
I’ve asked BBBlogger to add a poll to our site asking you who you think will win this season. I like Sione and Filipe. They are tough and seem to be sincere. Of course, not that the rest of the couples aren’t. All the contestants who were either controversial or had a story to tell seem to have gotten themselves eliminated. The remaining contestants all seem to be “in it to win it” and they all look like “good guys”. It will be interesting to see what the producers do now. Will they try to invent a new controversy? Or maybe add a new twist to try to stir up the pot? I guess we will have to stay tuned to find out…Bloggergal1
PS Please leave a comment about your favorite contestants!
