Biggest Loser Takes a Bite Out of the Big Apple
Hi Everyone!
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend! Did you incorporate Rocco’s tips or do as I did and say “the heck with it!”?
This week’s Biggest Loser takes the remaining contestants to New York City for makeovers. “Project Runway” champ Christian Siriano gives wardrobe advice. Not only do they get new looks, but they also get to appear on the Tyra Banks show. Click here for more details.
Has anyone checked out the contestants’ My Space pages? My sister suggested this and tells me that Vicky is very vocal on her site. Click here to check it out. You can search the main My Space page for each contestant by typing their first name and the words “Biggest Loser”.
With only a couple weeks left, things are looking pretty good for Heba, Ed and Vicky. Those three together definitely spells trouble for Michelle and Renee. The only chance Michelle and Renee have is to stay ABOVE that yellow line! At least they know they can count on each other.
So stay tuned….and have a great week…Bloggergal1
Biggest Loser brings back Rocco!
Hi Everybody!
I hope you are enjoying your weekend! This week’s Biggest Loser is right before Thanksgiving. So naturally it will feature NFL stars. Jerry Rice and Steve Young will be making an appearance. They put the contestants through some NFL-style drills.
Also making another appearance on Biggest Loser this week is our favorite cutie chef Rocco DiSpirito. He’s going to teach our contestants how to make Thanksgiving dinner with fewer calories. I know I’ll be watching and taking notes. My favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is the stuffing/dressing. There goes a pound or two!
Obviously, Renee and Michelle are in a bit of trouble this week since they are so much in the minority. I don’t think it should be too hard for them to get Amy on their side. That would even up the votes. Since Coleen is gone and she was my favorite I’ll have to switch to Michelle. I would be cheering for Amy but she really annoyed me last week when she voted out my Coleen. I sure hope Vicky doesn’t win this thing!
Talk to you on Tuesday….stay tuned….Bloggergal1
The Biggest Losers Sweatin’ to the 80′s
Hi Everybody,
This week’s Biggest Loser started with Vicky’s reaction to Amy voting out Brady. There was a lot of bleeped words. I think even Heba is looking a little frightened of Vicky. Trainer Bob was dismayed to realize that his Blue team is falling apart. Vicky and Amy aren’t speaking and Trainer Bob is concerned that this will lead to their demise.
As promised, its 80′s week on the show. All the contestants got decked out in 80′s garb–leg warmers, headbands, etc. and then headed to 80′s style workouts. Jillian took her Black team to meet with a break dancer. I think they did a really good job learning. They were relaxed, had fun and looked great. Next Bob’s team had a workout 80′s style. I don’t know about you, but they just looked embarrassingly bad. It’s weird how all the uncoordinated contestants ended up on the same team.
Today’s challenge involved 80′s trivia and holding up weight. If you answer the trivia question incorrectly, water is added to your barrel and increases the amount of weight you are holding up. If you answer the trivia question correctly you get to pick who you want water added to. The last one standing wins some nice prizes and one choice prize. The choice is $5,000 cash or add 1 penalty pound to whichever contestant you choose. Ed ended up having water added to his bucket twice and so he was the first one out of the competition. Amy was the second one to let go. I thought that was strange because she didn’t even have extra water added to her bucket. Coleen was next (extra water added twice), followed by Vicky (water added once), then Heba (water added at least twice). The last two remaining were mother Renee and daughter Michelle. Michelle asks her mom to let go and promises to buy her a purse. Renee lets Michelle win.
Trainer Bob continues to try to mend the riff in the Blue team. They aren’t too enthusiastic about listening to him. Trainer Jillian works her Black team’s butts off because she knows they don’t have the numbers if they end up below the yellow line. Amy ends up apologizing to Vicky for voting off Brady. I sure hope she’s playing her. Blue team’s last chance workout is extra tough because Bob is convinced that Michelle will use the 1 pound penalty on a member of his team.
Before the weigh-in, Allison asks Michelle her choice between the $5,000 cash and giving someone a 1 pound penalty. Michelle decides to give the 1 pound penalty. Personally, I would have taken the $5,000. I don’t think 1 pound is enough to give up all that money, but we’ll see soon enough. Michelle chooses to give Vicky the 1 pound penalty.
Weigh-ins: Michelle: 194 – 8 = 186 pounds (8 pound loss) Renee: 215 – 8 = 207 pounds (8 pound loss) Ed: 273 – 11 = 262 pounds (11 pound loss) Heba: 238 – 7 = 231 pounds (7 pound loss) Coleen: 170 – 3 = 167 pounds (3 pound loss) Shucks, I love Coleen! Amy: 181 – 8 = 173 pounds (8 pound loss) Once again, Amy is the Biggest Loser. VIcky: 193 – 6 = 187 pounds (6 pound loss plus a 1 pound penalty). The two competitors below the yellow line are Vicky and Coleen. If the votes go along Team lines, Coleen will be voted out. But, it comes down to Amy once again. Will she stick with the Blue and vote Coleen out? Or will she go after Vicky? I’m sure you know how I feel and I think I know how you feel! Amy, please get Vicky out of there, please!!!
Michelle votes to eliminate Vicky. Renee votes to eliminate Vicky. Ed votes to eliminate Coleen. Heba votes to eliminate Coleen. Amy once again decides the elimination. Coleen is <sadly> eliminated. Darn, I really wanted her to make it to the end. I really don’t understand why Amy would vote Coleen off rather than the witch Vicky. If next week, the bottom two are Amy and Heba…who does Amy think Vicky and Ed will vote to eliminate? Same’s true if the bottom two are Amy and Ed or Amy and Vicky. I hope she knows what she’s doing!
Stay tuned and have an excellent week…Bloggergal1
Biggest Loser 80′s Style
Happy Sunday Everyone!
Wow, everyone had something to say about last week’s Biggest Loser! The “drama” seems to be drawing the viewers in. I’m surprised that a number of people are upset over the fighting and “game playing”. This is a daily occurrence on most reality TV game shows like Survivor and Big Brother. The difference seems to be that usually the viewers like the meanest most vindictive contestant on those shows. Biggest Loser seems to bring out the gentleness in its viewers. Everyone is cheering on the “good guys”. Okay, me too!
This week on the Biggest Loser is 80′s week. The contestants will dress the part and do 80′s style workouts. Check out Coleen:
She looks great, doesn’t she?
Of course, there’s friction in the house with two players not talking to each other. Hmm, I wonder who? LOL Hopefully, the good guys keep on winning and “losing”! Stay tuned…Bloggergal1
It’s Every Loser For Themselves!
Hi Everyone!
Tonight’s show started with the Black team telling the Blue team that Phil was voted off. Heba, Vicky and Brady were thrilled in a very annoying way. I hope they know that Karma can be a bitch!
As advertised all week, all the contestants returned to the ranch. The players were told that they would all participate individually. Allison informed everyone that one, only one person will return to the game and two, the person rejoining the game will earn that right at the challenge. Next, all the returning players weighed in. Coleen’s dad, Jerry, was not able to return to the ranch but he did weigh in from home and he’s lost a total of 41 pounds. Next to weigh in was Shellay and she lost 39 pounds! Tom Sr. lost 48 pounds and his son Tom Jr. lost 57 pounds. They are big guys and have a lot of weight to lose. Adam lost 35 pounds and his wife Stacey lost 31 pounds. Heba’s husband Ed lost 58 pounds. Philip’s wife Amy lost 47 pounds and he lost 68 pounds.
I cannot believe how evil Vicky is. When she said that she would like to see anybody come back to the game except for Phil I was shocked! Of course all hell broke lose between Philip, and the three meanest players in Biggest Loser history…Heba, Brady and wicked witch Vicky. If one of those three wins this thing I won’t be able to watch!
The challenge is for the voted off contestants only. They have to step up and down on a stair stepper until someone reaches 1000 steps. It quickly becomes a contest between Ed and Stacey. Ed is ahead for almost the whole time. Stacey pushes at the end with LT’s coaching but she just can’t overtake Ed. He wins the challenge which includes immunity. This gives the blue team another vote. Yuck!
Next, the contestants are surprised with last year’s Biggest Loser Ali Vincent and a nutritionist from Prevention Magazine. They met with everyone giving tips on how to lose and keep off the weight after leaving the ranch. As a surprise, Prevention Magazine gave each contestant $5,000 worth of free groceries.
At the weigh-in, Allison tells everyone that the two with the lowest percentage of weight loss will be below the yellow line. Everyone will get to vote for who goes home. However, there’s a twist coming up! The weigh-in starts with Ed losing 4 pounds. Since he won the challenge, he has immunity. Heba lost 9 pounds–a huge loss. How the heck does she do that? Coleen lost 7 pounds–another amazing weight loss! Amy C. lost 6 pounds. Michelle lost 6 pounds. Renee lost 7 pounds. Vicky lost 8 pounds and I have to admit I was bummed! I didn’t think she’d lose that much. Last to weigh in was Vicky’s husband Brady. He lost 6 pounds putting him in the bottom two along with Michelle.
The final surprise (twist) is that the contestants have no time to discuss the vote. They must go straight to the elimination room and vote. It’s pretty clear before the vote even begins that Heba, Ed, Vicky and Brady will all vote for Michelle to go home. Michelle, Renee and Coleen will vote to send Brady home. That leaves Amy C. Will she stick with the blue team or switch over to the black? She definitely is at a disadvantage with the blue team since the other members are extremely tight and will get rid of her as soon as they don’t need her vote anymore. If Amy votes to eliminate Brady it would result in a tie and the competitor with the lowest percentage of weight loss leaves and that would be Brady. GO, AMY!!! Sure enough Amy votes to eliminate Brady and out the door he goes!!!! I have to admit I really enjoyed it! I would have preferred to see Vicky leave but her losing her husband may take some of the air out of her sails. Karma baby…karma!
Stay tuned…Bloggergal1
Am I the Biggest Loser?
Hi Everyone,
I hope ya’ all had a great weekend. Mine was good–sorta! I can’t find my cell phone. I had a meeting at my home on Saturday afternoon and I know I had it then, but after that “poof!” it disappeared. So I think that qualifies me as the Biggest Loser this week, doesn’t it?
Well now that the election is over, we can concentrate on the Biggest Loser AND we don’t have to try to tune out every time a commercial comes on! As I mentioned in my previous post, eliminated contestants will return to the ranch. Notice I said contestants–plural. The NBC site says that specifically. They also say that no one should miss the first ten minutes of Tuesday’s show (8:00 p.m.).
This week’s challenge focuses on the 1980′s–changing the players clothes and workouts. I’ve heard hints of a rift in the house, but of course, that’s nothing new! Also, once again, there’s a twist when it comes to the elimination. Sounds like a week not to be missed!
By the way, if you are interested in Biggest Loser Families recipes, check out Oprah’s website: http://www.oprah.com/article/food/recipes/20081001_tows_recipes.
I’ll be back on Tuesday evening, so stay tuned! Bloggergal1
Who is returning to Biggest Loser?
Hi Everybody!
I hope you are enjoying your weekend!
Did you hear this week’s tease for the Biggest Loser show?
Big surprises and big shake-ups as eliminated contestants return to the ranch!
Hmm, I wonder what that means? I think NBC is trying to drum up some more viewers. If I get my way, Coleen’s dad will come back this week! I guess we have to stay tuned to see…Bloggergal1
Even Oprah can’t make Biggest Loser very exciting!
Hi Everybody!
Today, Oprah had on Bob and Jillian, the Biggest Loser trainers and of course the topic was weight loss. Well, sort of. Mostly they reviewed a bunch of the contestants about their weight losses and (in some cases) gains. I was really hoping for a ton of information and inspiration but I think the show missed its mark. So anyway, here’s a recap.
Jillian said that she understood what the contestants are going through because at one point she weighed 170 pounds (she’s 5’1″). She said someone intervened and she learned to eat correctly and exercise.
A number of past contestants were on to tell about life after the Biggest Loser. Ali Vincent, last season’s winner, has lost a total of 109 pounds! She now weighs a skinny 125 pounds. She looks soooo amazing! She spends 5 days in the gym for 2 hours a day. She measures and weighs all her food. In other words, once you lose the weight…the story doesn’t end there!
Also, on Oprah was Ali’s mom Bette Sue. She’s lost 75 pounds. Bette Sue is having a tougher time keeping the weight off. Next was Curtis and Mallory–together they’ve lost 200 pounds! Mallory works at the gym as a trainer. Roger Shultz lost 143 pounds. He was able to stop taking medicine for diabetes and now uses diet and exercise to control the disease. He eats 5 to 6 small meals a day. Mark Kruger went from 285 to 189! He admitted that he ate to feel better. Don’t we all? He learned how to share his feelings and show his emotions. This helps him keep the weight off. Jay Kruger Matt’s brother was in the audience and he looks so hot!
Next came a bit of reality. A number of the Biggest Loser’s were shown that weren’t able to keep the weight off. One of them was Matt Hoover. He explained how he was a “fat person” in a skinny body. He’s kept off 100 pounds but has gained back somewhere around 50 pounds. Susy Preston, also a Biggest Loser contestant met and fell in love with Matt on the show. They are now married and have two sons. Susy now has to deal with the “after pregnancy” weight.
Julie Haddon finds ways to maintain her weight. She eats on smaller plates. She makes snack bags with small portions for when she’s not home.. She works out at least 5 times a week. She’ll use the playground equipment to help her work out and this allows her to spend time with her sons.
I was surprised that very little was actually said by Jillian and Bob. They might as well have not been there! At the end of the show, Oprah asked for their best piece of advice. Jillian suggested maked a life list so that you have goals that are right there in front of you. For example, “I want to be able to see my grandchildren grow up.” Bob said that today is the first day of the rest of your life–so start immediately to improve yourself. A very emotional Julie made a special appeal to women to realize that they must take care of themselves. She says that we care for everyone else and don’t make the time to care for ourselves. Now, ain’t that the truth!
I know I wasn’t on the show, but I say take baby steps.–a short walk today, a little longer walk tomorrow, one less cookie today, two less cookies tomorrow! Hopefully after a little while, the good results will win over the bad tendencies!
So tell me what you thought of today’s Oprah!

Is Biggest Loser’s Brady a sandbagger?
Hi Everybody!
So why should tonight be any different? The Biggest Loser Families show starts out with Phil crying about his wife leaving. Nothing new there. Seems like someone’s always crying on Biggest Loser.
Trainer Bob cornered Vicky and Brady about their small weight loss amounts. Just as my DH said last week, Bob thinks something is up with Vicky and Brady. He came out and asked them if they were deliberately not losing weight. Of course they say no, but their faces told another story. I’m so proud of my DH!!!! He saw this way in advance. Hey, maybe trainer Bob reads this blog!
The temptation competition was really interesting. The teams had to pick which one of two items were healthier to eat. I really enjoyed this section because it gave practical information and some surprising information as well. Who would have thought that a multi-grain bagel with light cream cheese would have more calories than a ham and egg english muffin? The blue team won the competition and a 40 pound advantage in the upcoming challenge.
To tell you the truth, I debated whether to even comment about the little encounter between Heba and Phil. In my opinion, Heba’s just trying to cause trouble between Phil and his team mates. Well, it didn’t work and Phil’s team rallied around him–enough said.
The challenge had each team holding up the amount of weight they lost while hanging 50 feet in the air. Because the black team lost the temptation competition, they had to hold an extra 40 pounds. That’s a lost of extra weight! After a half hour, one of the four members of the team had to let go. Blue team chose Vicky and Black team chose Michelle. This put a lot of pressure on the remaining team members. Phil couldn’t hold on so he let go leaving Coleen and Renee holding all the weight. FIrst Coleen folded and of course Renee couldn’t hold on herself. This gave the Blue team the advantage of being able to pick one of the other teams members not have their weight count.
Commercial time! Bob promotes Extra gum to his teammates. Last chance workout time! Sweat, pain, sweat pain…well you get the idea!
Finally, it’s time for the weigh-ins. The Blue team chose to have Michelle sit out the weigh-in. She lost 2 pounds. Renee lost 3 pounds. Coleen lost 2 pounds. Phil lost 3 pounds. The Black team is definitely in trouble tonight! Brady is the first of the Blue team to be weighed. He lost 13 pounds this week. So what do you think of that? Is he a sandbagger? Just remember…what goes around comes around! Vicky lost 2 pounds. Heba lost 6 pounds. Amy C. lost 6 pounds.
The Black team must send someone home, however, Renee has immunity because of losing the most weight. Since Michelle and Renee are mother and daughter and will vote together, they have control of this decision. Phil and Coleen both campaign to save themselves, but Phil admits he’s homesick. Renee, Michelle and Coleen all choose Philip to be eliminated. I know this makes a lot of you happy! Me? I’m just happy it wasn’t Coleen.
Don’t forget about the Biggest Loser trainers appearing on Oprah this Thursday. Have a great week!

Which Biggest Loser Breaks a Record?
Hi Everybody,
As we narrow down the number of contestants, I’m enjoying Biggest Loser a little bit more each week. We’re down to eight now–two family couples remain. Will it help Michelle/Renee and Vicky/Brady? Since they haven’t been broken apart that extra vote may be the difference between staying and going. I’m still rooting for Coleen. I liked her and her father from the start and I think she’s done great considering he was one of the first to leave the show.
This week NBC says that one of the contestant’s will break a weight record. Could it be Brady? He hasn’t lost as much weight as he should have considering his size. Could my DH be right and he’s going to pull off a huge weight loss this week? Or will Heba be the one? She’s traditionally lost a large amount of weight each week. Also scheduled for this week’s show is a test of the contestant’s knowledge of calories. So stay tuned on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.!
In other news, the Biggest Loser trainers will be featured on the Oprah show this week. The show is scheduled for Thursday, October 30th. Bob and Jillian will share the weight loss methods that they use to help the contestants on The Biggest Loser. I’m looking forward to this because they really don’t tell you enough about the weight loss on the actual show. We very rarely see what the contestant’s are eating except for when NBC wants to promote one of its sponsors. Want an advance preview? Check out this article on Oprah’s website: http://www.oprah.com/article/omagazine/health_omag_200412_weight .
That’s it for now. Have a great remainder of the weekend. Love Bloggergal1
